Arkona confirme la mutation qui commençait à s'opérer sur Yav : un album moins folklorique — c'est principalement le très impressionnant "Tseluya zhizn'" qui correspond à ce style — mais plus pagan et même plus sincère. Masha mène son office en donnant de la voix, surtout en hurlant ("Shtorm", "Khram"), et c'est bien par cette brutalité que Khram touche à un point viscéral ! Une étape cruciale, imposante ! Favorite track: Rebionok bez imeni.

Psy-Q This album is a big step in the musical evolution of Arkona, it is more experimental and almost whimsica, but it still uses tried and true folk metal formulas in some places. I didn't think a rather "commercial" folk metal band could sound so true.

A blackened pagan metal masterpiece!

Khram is the Russian word for temple – and is also the title of the eighth Arkona album. A Khram is a temple shrouded in natural mysticism slumbering behind nocturnal treetops, yet open to everyone. The sincerity and depth that binds all five band members together resonates in the sumptuously dark cover artwork and leading lady Masha`s lyrics that are written in her own blood (which is also part of the artwork). Arkona may have used sound samples in their early days, but nowadays cellos, brass parts, wind instruments and throat singing are recorded live meticulously and flow naturally into harsh metal on headstrong tracks like ‘Shtorm‘. King-sized songs effortlessly shift from blackened pagan metal masterpieces to epic tracks with crystal-clear melodies and piano infusions. Arkona’s Khram is an exuberant and demanding affair that defies genre boundaries with untamable spirit!

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once..... grote_smurf

La traversée du désert n'aura pas duré quarante jours mais quatre longues années... Avec Панихида, Батюшка renaît enfin de ses cendres et, bien que désormais seul (ou plus exactement entouré de deux chanteurs), Христофор accomplit un miracle. Il s'inscrit dans la continuité de Литоургиiа avec un black metal orthodoxe qui nous convie ici à une cérémonie dédiée aux morts. Sa vision est englobante : les mélodies, la gravité et le silence font toucher le paradis ; l'agressivité est luciférienne. Jordan Vauvert
